| Revenue authorities give damn to Crime Branch directive to collect property details of Mushtaq Peer | | SSP writes letter to Tehsildar but of no use | | Jehangir Rashid SRINAGAR, Dec 16: Authorities of Revenue department in Kashmir have given a damn to the directive of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Crime Branch Kashmir asking them to ascertain and collect property details of former Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BOPEE), Mushtaq Ahmad Peer in the scandal of sale of question papers of CET 2012. Sources in Crime Branch Kashmir told Early Times that authorities of Revenue department were asked to gear up its efforts and trace out properties of former BOPEE chairman Mushtaq Ahmad Peer who is in judicial custody for selling the question papers of 2012 Common Entrance Test (CET). They said that Revenue department is yet to do the needful in this regard putting the entire process of investigations in a quandary. Sources said that Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Crime Branch Kashmir shot a letter to Riyaz Ahmad Shah, Tehsildar, South-Srinagar asking him to ascertain and subsequently collect details about the properties of Peer who was arrested last month by police in connection with the infamous case involving sale of question papers of CET 2012. "With respect to investigation in case FIR number 24/2013 of Police Station Crime Branch, Kashmir High Court has directed to collect the details of both movable/immovable property in respect of Peer Mushtaq Ahmad son of Peer Abdul Aziz resident of Bismillah Colony, Naseemabad Hazratbal, Srinagar and his family members. It is as such requested to provide the same within two days positively for onward submission to the Hon'ble High Court," writes SSP Crime Branch, Kashmir in the letter. Sources said although, the letter under number CBK/DYSP/HQ/FIR-24/13/11686 was issued on December 5 with directive that property details should be submitted within two days, nothing of that sort happened. They said that this has delayed the process of investigations in the case adding this also tantamount to contempt of court. "Tehsildar, South-Srinagar wrote to Naib Tehsildar, Khonmoh in this matter following which the Naib Tehsildar under correspondence number 379/NT/Kh/13 dated 09-12-2013 issued directions to Girdawar Khonmoh to take the matter urgent and collect details about the property of Peer. A week has passed since then but still no details whatsoever have been submitted by the concerned officials of the Revenue department," said sources. Sources said that Tehsildar, South-Srinagar also marked the letter to Naib Tehsildars of Khanyar, Nowgam and Chattabal so that the exact property details of Peer are known, but here too the necessary action has not been taken. They said this may be due to reason that some officials are hand in glove with former BOPEE chairman. It would be in place to mention here that Crime Branch registered FIR 24/2013 against Peer, and raided his houses in Kashmir and Jammu provinces. The raids were conducted in connection with paper leakage case for entrance for 2012. After remaining in police custody for some time, the former BOPEE chairman was sent to the judicial custody by the High Court. Investigations are in progress and skeletons continue to come out of Peer's cupboard. |
