| Villagers stage protest against CAPD Deptt | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, Dec 25 : Angered over shortage and pilferage of ration, resident of three Panchayats comprising Lowang North, Lowang South and Chandal staged a protest demonstration. Addressing the protesters Sarpanch of Lowang Zakir Hussain, Panch Rattan Dass, Panch Mohamad Azaad Bhat and Panchayat Secretary Shadi Lal alleged that CAPD department has totally been failed to provide the ration to 250 registered consumers of the ration depot of Lowang, in cold weather when it was not possible for the general consumers to survive without a grain of ration. "The stores which should be filled with ration items in these cold days before the snowfall but nothing is done by the CAPD in this direction and left the people to face the hardships and ration shortages", he said. They also demanded that the ration scale should be increased on the pattern of Doda, Poonch, Rajouri and Kishtwar and as it was being given to the residents of the far-off areas of the state so that our need could be meted out. They said the major cause of shortage of ration in our area was black marketing which was being carried out by ration mafia with the support of CAPD officials by which the ration meant for public has been black marketed. |
