`Mixed response over Jammu Bandh shows its utility'
State BJP goes into hibernation after Lalkaar Rally

Jammu, Dec 25: The State unit of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) headed by Jugal Kishore Sharma has gone into hibernation after the successful 'Lalkaar Rally addressed by its Prime Ministerial candidate and Gujarat's Chief Minister Narendra Modi in Jammu on December 1.
Sources inside party maintained that the State BJP has been banking upon Modi. After the Lalkaar Rally and 'Run for Unity' campaign organized by Modi all over India, nothing commendable has been done by the party in Jammu.
They added that the recent two day Jammu bandh call by BJP over re-induction of Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo into Cabinet and the clean chit to him by Justice Retired RC Gandhi has also evoked poor response in Jammu province as vehicular traffic with healthy business was witnessed which proves the party was losing its ground.
No wonder Modi is attracting impressive crowds at the rallies across India and also evoked massive response in Jammu but the party continues to be plagued in Jammu.
The state unit it seems is yet to rise above groupism and the personal ambitions of state BJP leaders. In that case, Modi is only the bankable factor.
The fact is that even the state BJP working committee is not in its full strength. This only speaks of prevailing groupism within the party. The state working committee is still short of two vice-presidents as office-bearers even two years after Laxmikant Bajpayi was elevated to the post of party president.
Other than groupism, selection of right candidates is another factor that state unit's needs to focus on. A party insider said that any goof up on this account would cost the party dearly especially when it is trying to regain maximum from the state. The reason is simple that Modi's charisma alone will not help every Tom, Dick and Harry to win the election.
Another BJP leader said Modi wave is much different from Ram wave. With less than six months left for Lok Sabha election, it's high time that state BJP pulls up its socks
