| Emergence of Third Front gives sleepless nights to NC, PDP; Cong elated over new development | | | ET Report
Jammu, Dec 25: Emergence of Jammu Kashmir United Front (JKUF), popularly known as Third Front, has given sleepless nights to Kashmir centric parties especially ruling National Conference and opposition PDP but it revives Congress' hope to head the next Government in J&K.
Although Third Front leadership is trying to make inroads in Jammu province, it is believed that this Front will WIN seats of Kashmir valley only by eating share of both National Conference and PDP. NC and PDP leaderships have reasons to be worried because emerge of this Front would spoil their chances of emerge as single largest party.
It is imminent that no party would get majority on its own in next Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir so any party which would emerge as single largest is likely to be head the next coalition Government.
Sources said that Congress leadership is elated over the way Third Front has received response of people in Kashmir valley. Party leadership is hoping that Third Front would get share of PDP and NC so Congress would emerge as single largest party because party is hoping to get good number of seats in Jammu and Ladakh regions. Furthermore, in Kashmir valley Congress is concentrating on some selective seats where Third Front does not have much presence.
Independent MLA Engineer Rashid has already formed a separate political party so division of seats in Kashmir valley would help Congress to emerge as single largest party provided BJP failed to retain its present tally in the Assembly.
Presently CPM leader MY Tarigami, Hakeem Mohd Yaseen, Chairman PDF and MLA, Ab Rasheed Kabuli former MP, Shiekh Abdul Rehman President Samajwadi Party, I.D. Khajuria President IDP, Ab Rehman Tukroo State Secretary CPI and Sanjay Saraf Youth leader Lok Jan Shakti Party have so far joined the Third Front. But some important leaders are likely to join this Front to make it a vibrant alternative in the state politics especially in Kashmir valley. Third Front IS also in touch with some influential politicians of Kashmir valley. |
