| Prof Gupta expresses concern over casualities of jawans | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 25 : MLA Professor Chaman Lal Gupta express concern over causalities of Jawans in Jammu and Kashmir has suffered more causalities than elimination of terrorists. This has been for the first time after the break out of Pak-sponsored armed militancy in 1989. Commenting upon reports that in 2013, so for 87 jawans and officers have been martyred and many other injured against the elimination of only 77 terrorists, Prof. Gupta said that this sad situation needs a look by the authorities at Centre. Especially when the earlier for over twenty two years of proxy war, the ultras were at receiving drubbing and on an average four terrorists were neutralized after the sacrifice of a jawan. But, the new trend is quite alarming as this is bound to have encouragement to terror, extremism and secessionist ice mentality, in addition to bearing on the morale of the forces, he added and stressed for a review of the policies that have led to such a situation and increased violence, both inside as also a long line of control and the Jammu border. Prof. Gupta assailed those who have been talking about for lowering of the guards and curtailing the powers of the terror fighting forces. He also pleaded for resuming of flush out operations against militants, especially in the winter months as in the past years because prevailing approach has proved quite detrimental to the peace and even to put a check on the brokers of extremis ion. Prof. Gupta regretted that right from Prime Minister to other high ups at the centre were talking about the increasing threat of terrorism but on the ground little practical is being done to curb the menace which have already done a great harm and consumed so many human lives. |
