| Court frames charges against priest, woman in murder case | | | ET Report Srinagar, Dec 28 : Principal Session's Judge Srinagar Mohammad Shafi Khan today framed charge against a priest for allegedly murdering a man through deceit after developing "illicit" relations with his wife, hailing from Qamarwari area of Srinagar. The court also framed charge against the wife of man who was murder by the priest on the pretext of performing a ritual. On 22 October this year, police had that the priest Mohammad Amin Naik murdered one Shahnawaz Ahmad Dar, resident of village Chewa in the central Kashmir district of Badgam. Police had said that a report was filed in a police station that Dar, went missing from his in-laws house at Qamarwari Srinagar. Later on October 3, four days after he went missing, the body of Dar was fished out from river Jehlum at Qamarwari. During the investigation it was found that Dar was last seen with Naik, a resident of Kulgam in south Kashmir. After questioning, police said that it was learnt that Naik had pushed Dar in the river on the pretext of performing a sacred ritual in order to solve his family problems of strained relation with his spouse.During sustained questioning, Naik as per police also confessed that he had 'illicit relation' with the wife of the deceased and subsequently planned Dar's murder. Police had filed the charge sheet in the case on December 19 before Chief Judicial Magistrate Srinagar who had committed the case to the Session's court. |
