Saahil Suhail ANANTNAG, Dec 28: Cosmetic unity among the Congress leadership in Jammu and Kashmir and much prevailing lobbyism got exposed in South Kashmir's Shangus area, after JKPCC President, Prof. Saif-ud-Din Soz was forced to stop and curtail his speech by angry workers when he sought a ticket for one of the candidate, believed to be strong man from his own lobby inside the Congress camp. Reports said that after Ghulam Nabi Azad's vibrant speech, State Congress chief Prof. Saif-ud-Din Soz started his speech by poetry in low tune. Soz after minutes of speech tried to promote Gulzar Ahmad Wani, who had contested 2008 Assembly elections unsuccessfully. Soz even raised high pitched slogans in favor of Wani, said that he will definitely try to help Wani. "I am not authorized to give him the ticket but surely will try my best to convince higher ups so that he gets it," Soz said and angered the rival group. Reports said that this line added fuel to anger of rival group headed by former Minister Mohammad Maqbool Dar's son Masood Dar, who had earlier tried to disrupt the speech of Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad by raising slogans against lobbyism. Khalid Masood Dar, who is believed to be from Azad's lobby earlier along with his supporters entered the Congress rally venue demanding a change in lobby which he believes will be done giving ticket for upcoming Assembly elections. Keeping in mind the anger of Congress supporters due to this line, Soz stopped his speech and thanked all those who participated in the rally. Pertinent to mention here that State Congress leadership including State chief Prof. Saif-ud-Din Soz, Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, Tourism Minister Ghulam Ahmad Mir and State Haj and Auqaf Minister Peerzada Mohammad Syed representing the two much hyped lobbies today addressed the gathering. However, ending the rally on a sour note displayed and exposed again the much prevailing lobbyism and cosmetic unity among leadership. Meanwhile, dozens of ASHA workers held a protest demonstration to press their demands when Union Health Minister was addressing the gathering. However, protest demonstration couldn't affect the rally as they were too far from the venue. |
