| Instead of joining debate on Article 370, they talk in camera to mislead | | NC leaders in Jammu more loyal than the king | | Rustam
Jammu, Dec 28: One can understand why the Kashmiri leadership insists that Article 370 be retained and further strengthened. Bulk of the Kashmiri leadership wants a loose type of relationship between Jammu and Kashmir and India so that it could rule and misrule unhindered, strengthened its communal and separatist constituency and destroy Jammu and Ladakh socially, culturally, economically and politically.
It has all along misled the Muslims of Kashmir by misinterpreting Article 370 and giving the debate on this Article a highly communal colour so that the common people of Kashmir do not demand a dispensation that governs the people across the country, barring Jammu and Kashmir. It calls it a bridge and says that the state will secede from India if this bridge is demolished. It's all humbug. These are spurious arguments. It's desperate bid to ensure that this pernicious Article is retained.
But one fails to understand why the Jammu-based handful of NC leaders walks into the trap of their masters in Kashmir. Should one take it to mean that they support their Kashmiri masters to promote their personal interests at the cost of the people? Or, should one take it to mean that they are so naive that they do not understand the implications of Article 370 for the people of the state? It appears it is their vested interest that motivates them to dance to the tunes of their Kashmiri masters. They are fully aware of the nature of damage Article 370 has caused to the polity, society, economy and the nation and still they, instead of joining the debate on Article 370, in camera or in Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan ask their own men and women to prove how this Article is detrimental to the people of the state. It happened on Friday as well at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan where they organized a so-called a day-long debate on Article 370. They have turned so irrational, unreasonable and biased in favour of their Kashmiri masters that they refuse to acknowledge the realities that they witness on a daily basis. They know the SCs, who constitute an important major segment of society in the state, want this Article to go lock, stock and barrel saying it has destroyed them in every respect and snatched their rights which their counterparts in rest of India have been enjoying, but still they defend Article 370. They know that it is because of Article 370 that the refugees from West Pakistan, all non-Muslims and mostly Dalits, and refugees from POJK have failed to obtain what is their legitimate due and still the Jammu-based NC leaders or small time politicians ask how this Article has been detrimental to the people of the state. They know that it is because of Article 370 that the STs in the state have not got political reservation and still they defend Article 370. They know that it is because of the separate J&K Constitution that the children of the daughters of the state married outside the state to the so-called non-state subjects do not have the property and residency rights in the state but still they dance to the tunes of their Kashmiri masters. One can refer to many other such instances to show how detrimental Article 370 is for the people of the state.
It appears these so-called Jammu-based NC leaders do not consider the people of Jammu province and Ladakh region, including the minorities like the Sikhs, Buddhists and Christians, SCs, STs, OBCs, refugees from West Pakistan, refugees from POJK and internally-displaced Kashmiri Hindus as people. These people, besides members of other religious sects such as the Shiite Muslims, constitute more than 72 per cent of the State's population, but these handful of Jammu-based NC leaders would not see all these facts in their face and, instead, would make statements which irritate and further annoy these deprived section of society. It is clear that they would not reason and, hence, it is for these looked down and willfully neglected sections of society to assert their psyche so that the vested interests who are bartering the interests of ignored sections of society to further their own interests are shown the way. One thing is very clear: The NC is destined to suffer a massive defeat in Jammu in the 2014 Assembly elections and that it has already conceded its defeat in Jammu could be seen from the fact that it has decided not to contest the Lok Sabha election in this province in 2014. It has abdicated in favour of the Congress, which, like the NC, is also unpopular in Jammu province because both these parties are the two sides of one and the same coin. |
