8 Sports Reporter JAMMU, Dec 28: Jammu and Kashmir Bank (JKB) Academy and Jammu Sports today sailed into the quarterfinals of the ongoing 2nd Christmas Soccer Cup, organised by Christian Sports Organisation at GGM Science College ground, here. In the first pre-quarterfinal, Parveen Kumar led the Bank Academy attack beating Air Force Jammu by two goals to nil. Both the goals scored by Parveen Kumar in the 13th and 38th minute of the match. Meanwhile, in another second round match of pre-quarterfinals stages, Jammu Sports registered a solitary goal win against Jammu United. The only goal came through Bunty in the 13th minute. Now, in the quarterfinals, Jammu Sports shall take on Moosa Club at 3 pm tomorrow. Moosa Club got direct entry into the quarterfinals replacing J&K Police, who withdrew from the tournament. Today's matches officiated by the technical penal including Nazir Ahmed, Moon Stephen, Harmanjeet Singh, Rinku Gill, Hilal, Vijay, Harneel and Eliazha Sotra.
Police Martyrs' T20: Big win for NCC, JKP loses
8 Sports Reporter KATHUA, Dec 28: Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) today suffered defeat in the hands of young side from Kurukeshtra in Haryana while NCC Jammu registered a big win in the ongoing 4th Police Martyrs' Memorial North Zone Twenty20 Cricket Championship at Sports Stadium, here. In the first match, NCC Jammu defeated Young Star Cricket club (YSCC) Jalandhar in Punjab by 153 runs. Batting first, NCC set a target for 205 runs losing just one wicket. Pranav hit unbeaten century making 105 runs off just 67 deliveries studded with 14 boundaries and one six. Manish Dogra also batted well contributing 43-ball 70 runs, including 10 hits to the fence and one six. In reply, YSCC bowled out for 51 runs in 12.3 overs. Manu and Tonu made nine runs each as no batsman could touch the double figure mark. From NCC Jammu, Mayank Gautam and Inderjeet Singh emerged as most successful bowers, who took four wickets each. For his brilliant century, Pranav was declared man of the match. He was awarded the trophy by treasurer of the Shaheed Welfare Committee, Kathua, Sanjay Pathak. Meanwhile, in another first round match, played in the afternoon session, Maharana Pratap Sports Club (MPSC) Kurukshetra in Haryana made it a fine eight-wicket win over J&K Police. Earlier, J&K Police won the toss and decided to bat first bowled out cheaply for 93 runs in 18.2 overs. Ishtiaq remained top scorer with 30-ball 36 runs while Farooq contributed 15 runs. From MPSC, Aman Malik bagged four wickets and Deepak took two. Later, chasing the target, MPSC attained the goal in 18.4 overs for the loss of two wickets. Neeraj Dahia made 51-ball 51 runs and Shubam contributed 24. Ishtiyaq and Shamsher shared the wickets. For his fifty, Neeraj Dahia was adjudged man of the match. Today's matches officiated by the technical penal including Ram Lubaya, Anoop Sharma Mohan Lal as umpires while Om Pal Sambyal and Kulushan Singh were the scorers. NEXT MATCH: The NCC Jammu shall take on Maharana Partap Sports Club at 9.30 am while Savi Cricket Club Hoshiarpur shall meet Ranchan Jammu at 1 pm tomorrow.
Jodhamal students shine in Pt Uma Dutt Sangeet Mahotsava
8 et Report Jammu, Dec 28: Jodhamal Public School students brought laurels to school by fetching various prizes at Pandit Uma Dutt Sangeet Mahotsava organized by Nirvana Academy. Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma who was the Chief Guest on this occasion gave away the prizes to the winners. He appreciated their keen interests in music and the school for exploring their latent talent. Students participated in various categories like Casio, Guitar, Singing (Light Singing and Group Folk Song and also Solo Singing) etc and winners who stood first in respective categories included namely as Pragati Sharma, Bhumika, Amishi Sarotia, Amvit Harshraj, Prateek Singh Bedi, Mian Mohammad Raza, Kartik, Aditya, Adhya Sambyal, Ishaan, Saksham, Bhavya Grover, Ayush, Vanshika, Aadit, Kusha, Naman, Prisha Chandok, Vanshika, Saquib, Sudhanshu and Gursimar. Meanwhile students who stood at second place were Dhairya Choudhary, Kaustav Sharma, Gauri Sharma, Ananya Mahajan, Arya Abrol, Vanshika, Manya, Anahita Anand, Apoorv, Sarthak Malhotra, Navtej, Prisha Chandok, Akshit Gupta, Kshitij, Sankalp and Mehul whereas third prize winners included Aditya Gautam, Vinamlin, Soham, Abhijot, Zitin Koul, Naman Chandok and Nandini Kapoor bagged first prize both in Light Singing and Folk Singing competition. Arya Abrol, Shaan, Charu, Abhijot and Angad also bagged 1st prize in Group Folk Song competition. These achievers were acknowledged by the Principal Trilok Singh Bist along with their mentors Subash Dey and Deepak Kumar.
Handball trials from Jan 3 8 Sports Reporter JAMMU, Dec 28: Jammu and Kashmir Handball Association shall be conducting selection trials to pick up probable for the upcoming 36th Junior Girls National Handball Championship to be held at Indore in Madhya Pradesh in the first week of February. The three day selection process shall take place at Mini Stadium Parade Ground, here from January 3 from 3 pm onwards. Those interested players have been advised to report the venue along with their Date of Birth Certificates in original. Players born on oar after January two, 1994 are only eligible for the trials, a handout issued here today said.
Trikuta Club faces Jammu Blues in Korfball final 8 Sports Reporter JAMMU, Dec 28: Trikuta Club shall take on Jammu Blues in the final of the 17th Jammu District Korfball Championship, organised by J&K Korfball Association at Green Field Ground, here tomorrow. In the semifinals, played today, Jammu Blues defeated Jammu Lions 8-6. Earlier, in the first half of the play, Jammu Lions were leading 4-3 but could not maintain the lead. Irfan Choudhary and Megha were top scorers with four and three baskets in their respective accounts. In other semifinal, Trikuta Club made it a 14-09 (ht 8-6) win against Young Star. Aditya and Gagandeep added four baskets each while Tamana contributed three. Earlier, in the quarterfinals, Jammu Lions trounced Jammu Rural Club 7-5 and Young Star beat Evergreen Club 13-08. Now, the final shall be played at 11 am tomorrow at the same venue, followed by the prize distribution.
