Punjab sets 324 runs target; J&K struggles at 77/2

jammu, Jan 10: Chasing a target of 324 runs Jammu and Kashmir were struggling at 77 for two at the end of day-three play in the ongoing Ranji Trophy quarterfinal against formidable Punjab at Moti Bagh Stadium, Vadodara in Gujarat today.However, experienced Bandeep Singh and young Ian Dev Singh were at the crease batting confidently at 20 and 17 runs in their respective accounts. Earlier, Adil Rishi (34) and Bandeep Singh (04) lost their wickets.
Now, with last day of the play remaining tomorrow, J&K required another 247 runs with eight wickets remaining.
Earlier, during the day, Parvez Rasool restricted Punjab to 296 in their second innings taking away last five wickets, including that of Harbhajan Singh on duck.
Before, Parvez struck, Mandeep Singh had already completed his century adding 113 runs for the eighth wicket stand with Gurkeerat Singh thus brought the total to 225 for seven from tottering 112 for six. Mandeep hit a brilliant century making 101 runs while Gurkeerat made 66 runs. Before Mandeep took the charge, Punjab was struggling at 50 for five in 23.1 overs.
Besides Parvez, Umar Nazir and Mohammad Mudhasir shared two wickets each while Ram Dayal bagged one.
