Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 10: Vice Chancellor of Sher-i-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST) Jammu Prof DK Arora has rendered his resignation following allegation of corruption against him. Officially it has been mentioned that Prof Arora has resigned due to health reasons, sources said that he was forced to resign. Governor of the State, N N Vohra, who is Chancellor of the University, has reportedly asked Dr Arora to submit his papers following allegations of corruption against him. Sources said during his tenure as Director of Council of Agriculture Research at Banaras, Prof Arora had committed some irregularities. Following investigation, it was established that Prof Arora had has committed irregularities in purchases. As authorities urged that Chancellor of the University to allow prosecution of the Vice Chancellor, he was asked to resign. Sources said that as director of Council for Agriculture Research Banaras, Prof Arora has committed irregularities in purchases. Prof Arora was appointed Vice Chancellor two years back for a tenure of five years but he was forced to resign after two years. Sources said that Governor N N Vohra has already constituted a search committee headed by Vice Chancellor of Central University S S Bleoria. Other members of the committee included B R Sharma, Principal Secretary Planning, S Iyapan, DG ICR and Dev Raj, vice chairman of UGC. Before selection of the new Vice Chancellor, Prof Arora has been asked to continue as officiating Vice Chancellor. |
