| Indian Science Congress (ISC) road begins wearing out, JU unmoved | | | Bivek Mathur
JAMMU, Jan 10: Tall claims of Jammu University authorities to greet the National and International guests for 101st Indian Science Congress to be held in the varsity in the month of February seems to be falling flat as the surface of the road has started to come out as it cannot withstand the substandard material used to lay the same. According to reliable sources within the University, the blacktopping of the road was completed about two to three weeks ago keeping in view the Indian Science Congress event to be held in varsity campus from 3-7 February but owing to compromise with the constructional material, the intra-University road cannot withstood the inclement weather and has become vulnerable to accidents. Early Times also learnt from sources that Friday afternoon, a student of the varsity got slipped off the road due to the pebbles coming out of the road and was later on admitted in the University of Jammu Health centre OPD number 10956 for the preliminary treatment wherein he was suggested to take rest and advised that if he feels any sign of headache, vomiting or any other pain is referred to Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu for further treatment. The student has suffered head injuries and a deep cut on the left portion of his face, according to sources and University authorities have till now tried to put a carpet on this issue to avoid any controversy over the compromise with the construction of the road. Pertinently Jammu University is hosting the 101st Indian Science Congress scheduled to be organized in February 2014. Being one of the prestigious and largest science events in India, it shall be attended by approximately 10,000 national and international delegates including distinguished scientists and Nobel Laureates. Newly elected National Student Union (NSUI) President of the Jammu University unit Nitin Bakshi said that he had brought the matter into the notice of administration many times but they never took the issue seriously. |
