Jammu, Jan 16: Development works generally get delayed on the account of unavailability of funds but contrary to the popular belief and practice, Chief Engineer, PWD (R&B) Kashmir Division has more than Rs 7 crore under Central Road Funds (CRF) but no project in hand to expend these funds. Sources told Early Times that both the divisions of state got nearly Rs 57 Crore each under CRF schemes but the Chief Engineer Kashmir Division who has still Rs 7 Cr with him but without project as a result of which funds are laying unutilized. "The funds laying unutilized because the maximum projects were in Jammu division under thi9s scheme as compared to Kashmir division resulting where the work on the projects are in progress in Jammu division as the Kashmir division is without work," they said. Sources further informed that government is contemplating to divert the remaining funds laying with CE Kashmir Division to CE Jammu Division so that funds might be utilized in development works. They said that maximum projects allocated to hilly districts of Jammu division due to political pressure of the coalition partner of National Conference and only few projects were given to Kashmir Division with the ratio of approximately 2:5. It is worthwhile to mention here that earlier government allocated maximum projects under PMGSY, CRF and NABARD in these mountainous districts of Jammu division and interestingly the work on the roads (Bhaboor to Jigote, Beoli to Koti, Dongru to Gadetar, Bhagwa to Desa, Khellani Dranha to Saras, Lodna to Gundna, Malwana Jagir to Abli Masri) are incomplete as on date. Similarly, in Bhaderwah, the roads (Bhalra to Gurekha, Gwari to Bharthi, Dhudwar to Chanti and Nagaelanchan to Kansar) are incomplete. |
