| Jammu-based NC leadership more harmful than Kashmir's | | New administrative units | | Rustam JAMMU, Jan 16: There is a view in Jammu province that its people have suffered neglect and discrimination at the hands of Kashmiri rulers and that New Delhi has always bartered the interests of Jammu and the nation by giving unqualified and unstinted support to the Kashmiri leadership. This is a valid view to the extent that New Delhi has never cared for Jammu and its political, economic and social aspirations and that the Kashmiri leadership has never acted in a fair manner. But to hold them squarely responsible for the miserable plight of the people of Jammu province would not be entirely fair. Why because it is basically the Jammu-based NC leaders, particularly those belonging to the minority community and others of their ilk in other Kashmir-centric parties like the Congress, CPI-M, CPI and so on, who have been playing a foul game with the people of Jammu province by flirting with Kashmiri leadership and helping it destroy the province and marginalize its people. This is a fact. That the Jammu-based NC leaders are playing an anti-Jammu role could be seen from their insistence on the implementation of out and out pro-Kashmir and highly irrational Bloeria and Ganai panel reports and their accusation against the critics of these recommendations that any attempt on their part to "derail or delay the process by the vested interests will be against the legitimate interests of the people, who are yearning for immediate setting up of the administrative units at Patwar, Block, Niabat, Tehsil and Sub Divisional levels". No one in Jammu province has opposed the creation of new administrative units. Infact, the people of Jammu province, who occupy two-time area that of Kashmir and are under-represented at all levels and in all spheres, want the State Government to follow a rational criteria so that the neglected areas and neglected people get new administrative units and are able to get their work done and grievances redressed at local level. It is the Jammu-based NC leaders and others of their ilk in Jammu in parties like the Congress, who to promote their own vested interests, dance to the tunes of their masters in the Valley, who play dirty role to scuttle the Jammu's struggle for empowerment. Actually, they are more loyal than the king; they have harmed and damaged Jammu. And it is not for the first time that the Jammu-based NC leaders have joined hands to defeat the people of Jammu province. They and others of their ilk in the Congress and similar other fake secular outfits have consistently done so in the past to remain on the right side of the masters in the alley and make gains at the cost of the people. They have always accused those demanding justice for the neglected people of Jammu province of politicizing everything. How irrational and biased they have turned just for the sake of their own petty interests. It's no wonder that the parties like the NC and the Congress are becoming unpopular at a rapid pace by the day. It is time for the said leaders to reform themselves, see reason and support those whose demands are genuine. They should realize that Jammu province needs atleast six more districts, several tehsils and niabats and other administrative units, as almost the entire Jammu province is hilly and mountainous and which lacks means of communication. Nowshera-Sunderbani, R S Pura, Akhnoor, Jammu rural, Billawar-Basohli are the places which deserve the status of district. Will these NC leaders in Jammu appreciate the demands of the people of these areas and announce that they would quit the party in the event of the State Government not conceding these and similar other demands of the suffering people of Jammu province? Only they can answer this question. |
