JAMMU, Jan 16: In order to eradicate the menace of child labour, the Labour Department has geared up its field agency and a campaign has been launched by way of awareness, surprise inspections, launching of prosecutions against the erring employers and imposing of fine. Recently prosecutions were launched against Tarseem Lal S/o Mulkh Raj Proprietor of M/s R N Brick Klin. Village Bhagatpur, Block Vijaypur district Samba and Bhanwar Lal (employer) M/s Bikaneri Namkeen, Dream Land Park, Kathua by the Labour Inspectors and Labour Officers under Child Labour (P&R) Act-1986 and a fine of Rs.12000 and Rs.10000 has been imposed on the said employers respectively. Besides, Labour Commissioner, Nirmal Sharma has passed directions to the field officers for recovery of Rs.20000 from each convicted person. The amount so recovered shall be deposited in the district level child labour-cum-rehabilitation welfare fund which has been created for extending assistance to the families of children withdrawn from hazardous occupations processes in keeping with the direction issued by Supreme Court of India. |
