JAMMU, Jan 17: In an expected outcome, the J&K Bank defeated the J&K Bank Academy 5-0 to lift the 2nd Christmas Soccer Championship, organized by Christian Sports Organization at GGM Science College ground, here today. It was an easy sailing for the seniors from Bank, who dominated their juniors from the Academy thus sparing little chance for them to reduce the margin. Star striker, Prem struck twice while Ezigil, Adnan and Waseem Feroz netted one goal each. Since both Bank teams had made it to the title clash and the final was delayed for certain reasons, the gathering was thin at the Science College ground. In the final, Managing Director, J&K Police Housing Corporation, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Dilbag Singh was chief guest, who gave away winners and runners-up trophies as also other individual prizes. Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Kiran Wattal was guest of honour while incharge Priest of Church, Fr. Kuriakose presided. Among other distinguished gathering were Executive Director Rehabilitation Council, Hafiza Muzaffar and Vice-President and Zonal Head of J&K Bank, Arvind Gupta. Speaking to the finalist teams, chief guest appreciated the Christian Sports Organization for their efforts to promote sports. Kiran Wattal also praised the organizers and the finalist teams. Earlier the final was kick started by Deputy Inspector General of Police, Jammu, Shakeel Beig. Rajesh Gill presented vote of thanks. Also present were RK Bhat SP PTS Kathua, Shokat Ahmad Khanray, Nicodemus, Markes Gill, Asif Gill, Victor Sotra, Lal Gill, David Mattoo, SM Gill, William Mattoo, Naveen Athwal, Sunny Gill, Elijah Sotra, Moon Stephan, Rinku Gill, Amit Sotra and Nitu Khokher. |
