| Has Congress succumbed to NC pressure? | | New Administrative Units | | ET Report JAMMU, Jan 17: It seems the Congress party in Jammu and Kashmir succumbed to the pressure tactics of National Conference (NC) on new administrative units as no action has been taken against constituting these new units without removing the disparity. The Congress Ministers and leaders have gone quiet after Omar Abdullah stated that he would go ahead with the idea of constituting new administrative units in the state despite opposition. After that open threat by the Chief Minister to Congress party, not a single Congress Minister or leader came in open to counter the Chief Minister. Omar Abdullah is in strong favour of implementing the Mushtaq Ganai committee report and he is putting all his machinery to implement that only but the Congress party hasn't been able to take that report and made it public. It is the need of the hour that Mushtaq committee report should be made public so that people will come to know that what he has given to Jammu region and what to Kashmir region. Irony is that even people of Jammu were not given time by the Government to do their homework and present their demands in front of Cabinet Sub Committee. On the other hand Kashmir people were given more time to prepare and present their demands. There was a huge response from people of Kashmir to CSC as they already knew CSC will be meeting to them on such and such dates but people of Jammu region were given less time. Going by facts, one could easily understand that CSC took only three days to reach out to people of Kashmir region as the area was less but in Jammu region it took them five days to meet people as area is vast and scattered. Now, Congress must know these facts and counter the NC on the issue till the disparity is not ended and people of Jammu region are given more units as compare to Kashmir valley. Thus NC must be shown teeth and taken due share. |
