SRINAGAR, Jan 17: In what could turn out to be a major scandal, officers of Horticulture Produce and Marketing have sold shop sites worth crores among the fair faces allegedly against huge monetary benefits in Rajouri fruit Mandi in complete departure from norms.
The document details in possession of Early Times reveal that without any advertisement in any newspaper or TV channel, the shop sites at the newly constructed fruit and vegetable market Rajouri were sold among the fair faces against huge monetary benefits thereby depriving fair opportunity to the deserving . The fingers of accusation are being pointed at J.P Sharma presently posted as Deputy Director Horticulture Planning and Marketing Jammu who allegedly flouted norms and made allotments on the basis of recommendations.
Several of those deprived of fair opportunity including Mohammad Aslam Chopan, Liyaqat Waseem of Darhal Rajouri, Abdul Rasheed of Fatehpur Rajouri, Manzor Ahmad of Thanamandi, Mohammad Khan of Thanamandi, Kamal Kishore of Rajouri to the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah for a fair inquiry in to the matter.
The details reveal that instead of deserving people of the area, the allotments were made infavour of people recommended by the concerned Minister which include three Brothers of Rashpal Singh MLA Kalakote, Brother of MLA Nowshera. One shop site was allotted to the Brother of Tehsin Iqbal Chib son of Mohammad Aslam who is himself Assistant Grading and Marketing Officer of Mendhar in Poonch. Two shop sites were allotted in one family to one Brother and Father of one official of department Posted at Rajouri as Marketing Inspector Namely Naseer Ahmed son of Gulam Mohi-ud-Din of Thanna Mandi Rajouri, one shop site was allotted to the brother of one Government officer namely Sachin Dev Singh, besides the said official also allotted the shop sites among his relatives as "Benamy Property" among the people namely Bansi Lal Sharma son of Lajo Ram of Dori Dugar Aknoor, Basu Sharma son of Bansi Lal of Dori Dugar Akhnoor and Raj Kumar son of Netar Parkash of Poonch, besides according to the details received the said official is also involved in allotting one shop site to one Ashok Dubey son of Jagdish Dubey of Bishnah area.
An Assistant Grading and Marketing Officers (AGMO) of the said department on the condition of anonymity said that the said official violated all norms of allotment of shop sites which lays several conditions for such allotments. The AGMO said that everything was pre-planned by the nexus between the officials and the Minister who made several recommendations.
