Taj, Salman differ on NOTA in JK
1/17/2014 11:01:06 PM

Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Jan 17: A day after Congress leader and Medical Education Minister Taj Mohi-ud-Din claimed that he had written to the Prime Minister, Union Home Minister and the Congress High Command, requesting them to exclude Jammu and Kashmir from "None of the Above' (NOTA) option, fearing that it would be used by "separatists as weapon for their anti-election campaign, another Congress leader and the son of State Congress president Salman Anees Soz welcomed the decision of the Election Commission of India to provide the NOTA option to citizens of J&K as well.
Pertinently, the Election Commission of India (ECI) had on Thursday decided to go ahead with introduction of the 'None of the Above' (NOTA) voting option in the State during the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Medical Education Minister Taj Mohi-ud-Din had said that the NOTA option is not in the interest of the State of Jammu and Kashmir.
Salman Soz said that he welcomes the decision of Election Commission of India and has already expressed his views about the development on social media.
"I warmly welcome the decision of the Election Commission of India to provide the NOTA option to citizens of J&K as well. I am glad that the right of people to vote for someone or express their unhappiness with available candidates has been respected in J&K, as is the case in the rest of the country," Salman wrote on facebook.
