| As coaching centres take students for a ride, latter apprehend bleak future | | Students forced to go on 'enforced' vacation | | Jehangir Rashid SRINAGAR, Jan 17: Future of hundreds of students who receive coaching in different subjects at various coaching centres is at stake following the action taken by the district administration against some of the coaching centres as they were falling short of the criteria set out for them by the concerned department. Scores of students receiving coaching for subjects of 11th and 12th classes and Common Entrance Test-2014 have been forced to go for vacation since the coaching centres have shut down their shutters for the time being. The unexpected closure of these coaching centres has dealt a severe blow to the future of students and they along with their parents are a worried lot. Early Times has received complaints that coaching centres with majority of them functioning in the uptown areas like Barzulla, Bhagat, Parraypora, Hyderpora and Karan Nagar have stopped functioning much to the dismay of students and parents. The students have already been going to the coaching centres for the past two months or so and they are worried that the 'enforced' vacation may spoil their future. On Thursday (January 16) when the district administration acted against some of the coaching centres that were found to be below par, authorities of other coaching centres too were caught napping. Without wasting any time the authorities of these coaching centres asked the students to go back since the classes have been suspended. Interestingly, there was more surprise in store for the students today after they were told that the class work would remain suspended for Friday as well as Saturday. Since Sunday is the official holiday at these coaching centres the students were asked to come on Monday (January 20) and confirm whether the regular class work would start. This means that class work at these coaching centres would remain suspended for four days with students being the ultimate sufferers. "The coaching classes for the 11th class have been going on for the past two months and the action from district administration now seems to be somewhat illogical. The district administration should have swung into action as soon as the coaching centres started publishing advertisements in the newspapers," said a group of students. The students point out that Department of Education and the district administration should have acted against the un-registered coaching centres at the start of session so that their future is not put to stake. They demand that the coaching centres that are registered resume their business at the earliest so that they don't lose precious time anymore. "It is true that some of the coaching centres lack basic facilities but all that is known to the people at helm. The coaching centres are already registered with the concerned department but still then no action was taken against them up to this moment of time. Action at a time when the session is already in progress is questionable," said the students. The students while demanding early resumption of their class work say that this would ensure that their future is safe and secure. The students have urged the district administration to play more proactive role so that their money is paid back in case the coaching centres fail to restart the class work.
