Two women make abortive bid on life

Jammu, Jan 17: An aged lady (65) among two women today allegedly made an abortive bid to end heir lives by consuming some poisonous substances under mysterious circumstances in separate incidents in Jammu region.
According to police an elderly woman fell unconscious mysteriously at her residence in Nandpur in Uttarvehni after allegedly consuming some poisonous substance.
"Identified as Chanchala w/o Anchal Singh of Nandpur was found unconscious and was immediately shifted to nearby hospital where doctors referred her to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) for advance treatment.
Meanwhile, another woman fell unconscious after she allegedly consumed some poisonous substance at her residence in Ghagwal.
The identity of the woman has been established as Taro Devi (45) wife of Lekh Raj of Ghagwal.
Police said that she was shifted to nearby hospital and after preliminary treatment doctors referred her to GMCH. Police said that investigation in both the cases is on to ascertain the reasons behind women taking such an extreme step.
