| Cross LoC drug smuggling bid foiled, drugs worth Rs 100 Cr seized | | | early times report Jammu, Jan 17: In the biggest haul in Jammu and Kashmir, police today recovered narcotics drugs worth Rs 100 Crore in international market clandestinely being smuggled in a truck during cross LoC trade from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) during cross-LoC trade in Uri sector of the state. Sources said the narcotics smugglers have brainchild a new modus operandi and in have got Challan of the vehicle booked under the 'almonds Baddam' as the goods being traded under cross Loc Trade from PoK. "The challan of the vehicle mentioned M/s Shoukat Habib Trading Corporation Bandipora as the importer of the goods, the sources said, adding the driver of the vehicle has been detained for questioning. However his name has been kept withheld, sources added. They said the matter shall be taken up with Cross-LoC Trade Officials of Pak occupied Kashmir (PoK). "The police during routine checking of the vehicle got suspicious and halted it for thorough screening, police sources said. "During search police recovered 114 packets of brown sugar from a truck halted at crossing point at Salamabad Trade Facilitation Centre (TFC) in Uri today," said Govind Ratan, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Uri. SDPO Uri said the total weight of the seized drugs is around 100 kgs and it has an estimated cost of Rs 100 Crore in the international market. This is the second bid of narcotic smuggling through Cross LoC Trade. Earlier, police recovered cocaine worth Rs 10 Crore from a truck seized at Srinagar-Muzaffarabad route, near Sheeri in Uri sector in August last year.
