| Take probe to logical conclusion, HC tells Crime Branch | | BOPEE Paper sale scam | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Feb 3: Jammu and Kashmir High Court today asked Crime Branch of Police to take its investigation into Common Entrance Scam of 2012 to logical conclusion as soon as possible. "You (Crime Branch) should lay bare every thread of this fraud," said a Division Bench of the court comprising Justice Hasnain Massodi and Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey while hearing a suo-moto Public Interest Litigation. "In the beginning the Crime Branch was very swift and got accolades from this court but the investigation seems to have died down since then," the bench observed and asked the Crime Branch to take the probe to its logical conclusion as soon as possible. The Bench said that detailed order would be passed later in the day. However it could be accessed as the same was not made available to parties in the case. Crime Branch has already filed a chargesheeted against 25 persons including former chairman of BOPEE Mushtaq Ahmad Peer and 12 students who as per it were benefitted by the fraud. So far six students have been arrested and include Ahmad Faraz of Naibasti, Mushtaq Ahmad Lone of Samthan Bijbhera, Naveed Ahmad Bhat of Murhama Bijbhera, Khursheed Ahmad Dar of Chinigund Bijbhera, Yasir Yousuf Hajam of Chandan Pajjan Bijbhera and Yasir Yousuf Dar of Pazalpora Bijbhera. Among the 12 students, three are minors and as per counsel CPO of Crime Branch, they will be produced separately before the competent court. The ex-BOPEE chief and other accused have been chargeshteed in case FIR 24/2013 Under Section 420, 120B RPC, 5(2)d r/w (5(2) PC Act of Police Station Crime Branch. |
