| Jaitely exploring possibilities of contesting Lok Sabha election from Jaipur, Amritsar or Jammu seat | | | agencies New Delhi, Feb 3: After BJP national president Rajnath Singh has asked all party stalwarts to contest Lok Sabha elections to prove their popularity, leader of the opposition in the Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley is also looking for some safe seats in northern region. After Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) emergence in Delhi BJP stalwart Arun Jaitely is looking for safe seats. Highly placed sources said that Arun Jaitley is exploring possibilities of contesting Lok Sabha elections from Jaipur, Amritsar or Jammu Lok Sabha seat. Credible sources in BJP said that Jaitley is concentrating only on Jaipur and Amritsar seat but he also has kept the option open for Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha seat. Arun Jaitley has reasons to keep Jammu's option open because his in-laws belong to Jammu and his father in law late Girdhari Lal Dogra was a stalwart in state Congress. Candidature of Jaitley from Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha would brighten chances of BJP but it is not sure whether he (Jaitley) would opt to contest from this seat. Sources in the BJP said that it was all due to interest shown by Jaitley that BJP high command has yet not prepared panel for Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha seat. Interestingly both Rajasthan and Punjab units of BJP have urged Arun Jaitley to contest from their states respectively, J&K unit has not given any respond to the media reports that Jaitley exploring possibility of contesting Lok Sabha either of these three seats. Sitting Lok Sabha member from Amritsar Navjot Singh Sidhu has already announced that he would be happy to vacate his Lok Sabha seat for Jaitley. Similarly Rajasthan unit has also offered Jaipur seat to Jaitley. Arun Jaitley, a stalwart of BJP, has never contested Lok Sabha elections so both Rajasthan and Punjab BJP come out to offer seat to him but State BJP is not responding positively to the reports. |
