Srinagar, Feb 3 : Criticizing the move of its own Government, Congress Minister and Minister for Medical Education, Taj Mohi-u-Din today said that it was not desirable for the Government to create large number of Tehsils and Blocks in Jammu and Kashmir. "There was no need for the creation of 659 administrative units as it is a very large number. Anyhow, I respect the decision of my colleagues who were part of Cabinet Sub Committee and recommended about the creation of 659 new units," Taj told Srinagar based news gathering agency adding that huge funds are required to make these units a reality.
He said that there are instances where the distance between two tehsils or two blocks is very little and, "such a mess was avoidable.
"He said that despite granting tehsil and block status to areas at random there are some Minister who complain that their Constituencies were ignored.
He termed the allegations baseless that any discrimination has been done with Kashmir. "Kashmir got what was its due share.
Doda is having more area than Kashmir and that's why Jammu was given more units than Kashmir," he said adding that administrative units were granted to areas on public demand. Minister for Medical Education, Taj Mohi-u-Din said that as usual State Government will turn to New Delhi to meet the expenses for these new administrative units. "We are habitual of seeking alms from New Delhi and this time also we will repeat the same process," he said.
