Jammu, Mar 4: Several people today joined Peoples Democratic Party under the leadership of Haji Munshi zonal Vice President and Ch Faiz, block president of Mendhar. According to press release, new entrants in party fold include Haji Mohd Poswal, Ch Lal Mohd, Ch Lal Hussain, Ch Sadeeq, Haji Mohd Ashraf, and retired Inspector Nazir Hussain. PDP senior leader of Mendhar Ch Nazir Mohd Nambadar and others were also present.
They also discussed the problems of Gujjar and Bakerwals and said that the National Conference always exploited this community and nothing has been done for their development. The unfortunate policy of the National Conference created a gulf of hatred between Paharis and Gujjars for their political ends. We, for the last five years, are working with MLA Mendhar who is at war against this policy of divide and rule.
Equal development and equal opportunities are PDP's motto. They said that Mufti Sayeed has provided Middle Schools and High Schools in Gujjars bastis and also electric poles and transformers and drinking water and links roads.
"But it is unfortunate that while creating new administrative units the government has ignored the Gujjar and Bakerwal population. Although the MLA Mendhar had put the demands before the Billoria Committee and Cabinets Sub Committe for creating a new block at Gursai to cater the demands of Gujjars bastis like Gursai, Part, Jarranwali Gali, Kallar Mohra, Naka Manjari and Surothi and also upgrading agrarian tehsil of Harni to territiorial tehsil They also ignored a demand of creating block for Pathanteer, Kalaban, Chuggan Churron, Breela Topa and Salwaha area", they said.
