| VHP warns Govt against alleged Islamicnization of historic sites | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 4: Alleging Islamicnization of national, religious and historic heritage sites across the state, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) today warned the state government to desist from such illegal actions. Addressing a press conference here today, VHP state president Lila Karan Sharma condemned the changing of names of historically significant places. He said, "It has come to the notice of the Parishad that the names of hillock of Shri Shankracharya Ji and Hari Parvat Srinagar is being changed as "Kohi Suleman" and now the attempt is being made to change the name of Bahu Fort and its surroundings known as "Bahu Rakh" as "Shabaad" which amounts to regularising the unauthorised occupation of forest land encroached by illegal occupants." He further said, "Even there is an attempt to change the name of Anantnag into "Islamabad". The Parishad warned the Government to desist from such illegal actions which has hurt the sentiments of Hindu community." He called upon the Government to come with a statement to remove the doubts and correct the blunders committed by it. Sharma claimed to have information that Jammu Yatris Niwas, Bhagwati Nagar, constructed for the benefit and facilities of Yatries visiting Shri Amarnathji and Budda Amarnath, is being outsourced and given on contract and for that purpose tenders have been invited. The Parishad warned the Government to immediately withdraw the auction/tender notice and if the Government is unable to manage the Yatri Niwas then they should hand over its management and its upkeep to the Parishad or to Shri Baba Amarnathji and Budda Amarnathji Yatri Niyas, and refrain in future from any such action failing which the Parishad will be compel to launch agitation.
