| Court awards lifer, fine in double murder case | | | Jammu, Mar 13 (JNF) : Principal Sessions Judge Samba Inder Singh today awarded rigorous life-imprisonment and fine Rs one lac to Sanjay Singh who was facing trial in double murder case. According to the police case that on August 1, 2008 Sanjay Singh opened fire at on Sunil Singh and Jugal kishore on account of previous enmity as result both of them got serious injured from their pistol and they succumbed to in injuries. Police registered a case u/s 302 RPC and 3/25 Arms Act. After hearing Special Public Prosecutor Ashok Parihar Special Public prosecutor for the state whereas Adv Rajesh Kotwal for the accused person observed that offences of like nature are on rise in our society and the perpetrators of such crimes need to be dealt with sternly but the present case to my mind does not fall in the category of the rarest of the rare case and there is no evidence that the accused had been involved in any criminal cases previously and the accused had committed the murder of the deceased on account of suspicion that his brother was murder by the Sunil Singh & ors. Court further observed that the accused is a man of 45 years and has been languishing in Jail since 2008 and awarded rigorous life-imprisonment and fine Rs one lac to Sanjay Singh s/o Sukh Dev Singh r/o Mandi Kotli Tehsil & District Samba u/s 302 RPC and accused is further sentenced to undergo imprisonment of 2 years and fine Rs 10000/- u/s 3/25 Amrs Act Act. Court further observed that if the fine recovered shall be paid to the families of the deceased equally. |
