Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 13: The candidature of former Chief Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad from Udhampur-Doda Azad has shaken other political parties. Azad is the uncrowned king of this seat and all political parties and their candidates are known of this fact. However, the BJP seems to give a tough fight to Azad.
Azad's candidature has come after hectic efforts by Congress party high command to convince him to contest in place of his close aide, who is the sitting MP since 2004. The Union Health Minister hails from Soti village in Bhalessa area of district Doda from where he reached to national scene due to hard work.
He was awarded the best Health Minister award by a national news channel few months back for his performance in the Health Department. Azad is the one who made his place in New Delhi due to his nationalistic approach and patriotism. After 1989, when almost every Muslim of the state fall into the trap of Pakistan to seek freedom, Azad remained attached to his ideology of being a Gandhian and nationalist.
Not only is he a nationalist but he has worked for the betterment of people of the State, which was visible when he became J&K Chief Minister in 2005. His tenure is considered as one of the best phase of development of the State where everyone and every region got due share.
After going back to Centre, Azad worked for improving health scenario in the State and recently he announced four medical colleges and two cancer institutes for the State which is considered one of the biggest announcements for J&K since independence.
People know this fact, and it is obvious that Azad may get huge support of people.
