| Cong high command assures to properly rehabilitate Lal Singh | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 13: Sitting Lok Sabha member from Udhampur-Doda-Kathua segment Choudhary Lal Singh would be properly rehabilitated if mandate for this seat would be given to Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, who is certain to contest election from this seat. Credible sources in the Congress said that outspoken Congress Lok Sabha member Choudhary Lal Singh has made it clear to the high command that he would not tolerate any candidate except Ghulam Nabi Azad in his place. Choudhary Lal Singh has reportedly told the high command that Ghulam Nabi Azad is his leader and he would be happy if he (Azad) contest election from his seat but he made it clear that any "Tom, Dicky and Harry" would not be tolerated on Udhampur-Doda-Kathua segment which he had snatched from BJP stalwart Prof Chaman Lal Gupta in 2004. Credible sources said that high command has assured that party would properly rehabilitate him for this sacrifice. Party high command has assured that he along with his wife Kanta Andotra would be given respectable position in the party. Sources said that Choudhary Lal Singh would be first made as Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) because term of sitting MLC from Kathua Subash Gupta is going to be expire within a couple of months. After making him MLC, Choudhary Lal Singh would be given mandate from either Basholi or Kathua Assembly segment and decision in this regard would be taken by Choudhary Lal Singh himself. Party high command has assured Lal Singh that his consent would be taken in distribution of party mandates for Kathua district in the coming Assembly elections. Sources close to Choudhary Lal Singh said that sitting Lok Sabha member has made it clear to the high command that he is a disciplined soldier of party and would ensure victory of Azad. Credible sources close to Ghulam Nabi Azad said that Choudhary Lal Singh had met with Azad on Wednesday evening. During the meeting Lal Singh told Azad that he would start campaign for him (Azad) very soon. Assuring Azad that he (Azad) would win this Lok Sabha seat without any contest, Choudhary Lal Singh has reportedly told that he would be happy if he (Azad) represent the segment, which he has represented in two successive terms. In the meeting some other loyalists of Azad were also present. It was decided in the meeting that an aggressive campaign would be launched soon after announcement of mandate for Azad. |
