| IT Department sets up cell to keep check on cash bribing | | | Jammu, Mar 13 : Jammu and Kashmir income tax Department has established special cell to monitor cash or other items suspected to be used to bribe voters ahead of Lok Sabha polls on the directions of the Election Commission of India. "The Director General of Income Tax (Inv), Chandigarh under the jurisdiction of the Commissionerate of Income Tax, J&K, Jammu has set up independent control room and complaint monitoring cell in Aayakar Bhawan here with a Toll Free number 18001807040 for receiving complaints or information regarding movement of large sums of cash or other items suspected to be used for bribing the voters during the 2014 elections," A K Thatai, Commissioner Income said reporters here today. Thatai said the number shall function 24x7, adding, "three inspectors are deputed to receive and attend any complaints round the clock". He added that the income tax investigation directorate on the basis of information or complaint shall conduct independent enquiry against any person with the help of security provided by the district Election Officers. "Dedicated email ID created as itcrjmu @gmail.com to receive any information regarding movement of cash for bribing voters," said the Commissioner adding that to give wide publicity to public to carry valid proof of cash withdrawal while carrying/ transporting exceeding Rs 10 lakhs" |
