| ESIC meet held to discuss various services | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 13 : A meeting of ESIC local committee was held at Jhelum Resort, Jammu under the chairmanship of Nirmal Sharma, IAS, Labour Commissioner, Ministry of L&E, Government of J&K (chairperson) in which Anil Sharma, Special Secretary, Labour and Employment, A.D. Singh administrative medical officer ESI Scheme, J&K were present besides Arvind Kumar, Regional Director, ESIC Jammu & Kashmir Region as special invitee. Kamal Gupta and CP Verma, representatives of employers and Harbans Choudhary of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, representing employees attended the local committee meeting which was conducted by Dharmpal, member secretary/branch manager, ESIC, branch office, Jammu which caters to Katra and Udhampur also. Several important issues were discussed in the meeting and decisions made to improve the services being provided under ESI Scheme in Jammu, Katra and Udhampur which included the Medical Facilities being provided through 3 ESI Dispensaries in Jammu and 2 Private Doctors on ESI Panel at Katra & Udhampur and further requirements in these places. Few Members raised concern on non-availability of any ESI Establishment at Katra and Udhampur even after 3 years of implementation of the Scheme there which acted as impediment in proper delivery of services and benefits under the Scheme. Employer and Employee representatives asked the Regional Director ESIC, Jammu & Kashmir Region about the status of ESI Dispensaries at Katra and Udhampur approved in the 13th Meeting of ESIC Regional Board, Jammu & Kashmir held in September, 2013. He stated that these proposals have been referred to ESIC Headquarters office for processing. The members requested the dignitaries to expedite these proposals since the Insured Employees have been contributor to the Scheme. The members demanded starting Mobile ESI Dispensary for Katra and Udhampur to alleviate the problems faced by the beneficiaries since starting the Scheme in these two important hill towns in Jammu & Kashmir. Committee approved the proposition and desired necessary action for the same. The stakeholders stated that Health Check up camps are frequently being organized by ESIC in Jammu City. They suggested that ESIC Health Check up Camps should also be organized in these two hill towns at least every fortnight till the facility of ESI Dispensary is put in place there. The Local Committee appreciated the suggestion and agreed to take up the matter. The Committee also resolved that all the ESI Dispensaries will henceforth accept the Medical Reimbursement Claims bills / Devices prescriptions as single receipt point and deficiency, if any, would be pointed out for rectification of the same and would be processed by the Dispensary in the first instance. At the end Labour Commissioner Nirmal Sharma, J&K assuring full support from Govt. of J&K for improvement in ESI Facilities in the State also assured to take up the pending issues with Head Office of ESIC for early clearance thereof. |
