| Contractors demand release of pending payment | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Mar 13: Contractors of Irrigation and Flood Control Department of Rajouri district alleged that the department has not been releasing their pending payments worth Rs3.5 crores for which the works were executed and completed in the year 2011-12. On the other hand XEN, Irrigation and Flood Control has said that there was a dispute between the contractors and the then XEN on the carriage rates and during one such meeting with the officials contractors had snatched the relevant document and had taken with them which has caused a delay in the release of the payments. He added that in this connection a FIR was also registered against some contractors by the department. Contractors have alleged that they have to make the payments to the shopkeepers for the material used in the construction works and many of the contractors facing humiliation in the hands of the laborers whose payments were also pending. On this occasion District president Ishfaq Mirza and Manzoor Malik Rajouri appealed to the department to release their pending payments at the earliest so that they can't face any more humiliation in future. Those who were present on the occasion included Manzoor Malik , Abdul Qayoom Bhat, Daleep Kumar, Kushal Kumar , Mohd Ashraf Mirza, abdul Majeed Qureshi, Mohd Altaf Bhat, Manzoor Ahmed Mirza, Abdul Qayoom Bhat. |
