| PDP makes contest triangular on Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha seat | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 21: Although two national parties namely BJP and Congress are staking claiming of winning Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha, emerging political situation in this region has made contest on this seat as triangular. Veteran leader and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Yash Pal Sharma has gradually made his position strong in Jammu region and he like BJP and Congress candidates is also in the fray. Earlier, it was projected that real fighting would be between BJP and Congress on this seat but the way PDP candidate has strengthen his base in all the 20 Assembly segments in general and seven segments of Poonch and Rajouri districts in particular has made his position also strong. In Poonch and Rajouri districts Yash Pal Sharma is in a comfortable position because people irrespective of caste, creed, colour and religion have offered him unconditional support. Being a native of Poonch district, Yash Pal Sharma has edge over BJP and Congress candidates in Poonch. Similarly in Rajouri district PDP has emerged as a strong force so party has made Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha seat contest as triangular. In 2009 Parliamentary elections, PDP had secured 93,730 votes when Sardar Trilok Singh Bajwa was party candidate. |
