Suspended after Pak prisoner's death, former Jail Superintendent faces harassment

Jammu, Mar 21: Put under suspension following death of Pakistani prisoner Sanaullah Ranjay inside Jammu's high security Kot Bhalwal jail last year, the former jail superintendent Rajni Sehgal is being harassed by her own department as the lady officer has been asked to vacate the official accommodation without allowing her the time to arrange an alternate accommodation for herself.
As per the details available with "Early Times", in accordance with the letter written by Superintendent central jail Jammu, Kot Bhalwal vide letter No. Esstt/CJKB/ 1039-42 dated 20-03-2014, a four member committee has been constituted to take over the possession of official accommodation of Superintendent Jail at Kot Bhalwal from Rajni Sehgal immediately.
The State Government has so far ordered three inquires into the death of Pak prisoner Sanaullah Ranjay including the one conducted by Home Secretary Suresh Kumar in which the Home Secretary allegedly without giving any chance to the suspended lady officer to defend herself indicted her and other jail officer for dereliction in supervisory duty. Interestingly, while Sehgal was suspended, Government took no action against the other officers.
Putting all the rules and regulation to the whirlwind, following the inquiry from Home Secretary, another probe was ordered by the Government and the same was conducted by Additional Secretary Home, Sudershan Kumar who served a memorandum of charges on Rajni Sehgal in the month of November last year and the said officer duly responded within the stipulated time. Following 2nd probe, Government after the lapse of nearly 10 months, ordered 3rd probe to be conducted by ADG Home Guards DR Dolley, who was eventually cleared for central deputation by the Government itself.
Defeated and dejected from all quarters, Rajni knocked the doors of Minister of State for Home Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo who assured her justice and further assured that he will look into her issue.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Pakistani prisoner, who was lodged in the Kot Bhalwal Jail was attacked by a fellow prisoner on May 3, 2014 at 8:25 am. Following attack, Sanaullah was rushed to the Government Medical College & Hospital within half hour of the incident and was put under treatment. After being referred further to Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, Sannaullah died on May 9, 2014.
It is interesting to note that the Government followed an all together different yard stick to deal with a similar case wherein another Pakistani prisoner allegedly committed suicide.
