JAMMU, Mar 21: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) has hailed the decision of the party high command to field Ghulam Nabi Azad as party nominee for Udhampur Lok Sabha (LS) seat in the ongoing elections.Welcoming the decision of the party high command on behalf of PCC, the Chief Spokesperson MLC Ravinder Sharma said that Congress high command has acceded to the popular demand of the people especially of the party workers for fielding Azad, who is widely respected by all sections of the society for his tremendous contributions to the state and nation as well as the party in various capacities during his long tenure in public life.In a press statement, the party spokesperson said that the Party high command and Azad himself has respected the sentiments of the party workers and realized the need of the hour in taking this decision. PCC on behalf of the party rank and file of the state has welcomed the decision and conveyed gratitude on behalf of the party workers and all well meaning persons in the state for this farsighted decision. The landslide victory of Azad is a foregone conclusion but it would send a positive message to the entire cadre and people in the state, it added. |
