| BJP sees Modi wave;Omar believes in only cold, heat wave in J&K | | (Behind the veil) | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 22 : It is bullying time in Jammu and Kashmir. It is time for releasing party poll manifestos. It is time to make tall promises never to be fulfilled. It is time to stretch and strive. It is time to wait for freebies from candidates contesting the Lok Sabha election. Chief Minister,Omar Abdullah,is confident because he is sure that the ruling NC-Congress coalition will bag all the six seats, three by the NC and the remaining three by the Congress leaving the PDP,the BJP and the AAP parties to fret and fume. It is part of the bullying tactics. The BJP sees Modi wave blowing right from Kathua to Poonch, from Poonch to Udhampur, from Udhampur to Banihal. The Sangh Parivaar believes that the cold wave in Kashmir has been followed by the Modi wave. Watching the Modi wave blowing across the state the BJP has plans of contesting about five out of six seats in Jammu and Kashmir. The BJP leaders see a rise from the grave for the party after the adverse impact from the expulsion of some MLAs from the party only because of the Modi wave. But Omar Abdullah does not know anything about the Modi wave because he is aware only of the cold wave in Kashmir and the heat wave in Jammu. The PDP sees winds of change blowing across the state.Senior PDP functionaries believe that voters were going to vote for change which would mean vote for PDP that symbolizes change. The NC leadership seems to be scared of the PDP and the BJP making some inroads in the poll battle in the Kashmir valley and in the Jammu region respectively. And to counter it the NC leaders have resorted to a practice which is called hitting below the belt. They have started experiencing a secret tie-up between the PDP and the BJP. Not satisfied with this jibe the NC leaders have prepared a birth chart of the PDP which to them has revealed that the PDP is the creation of BJP.What a political joke ?When Omar Abdullah was a member of the council of Ministers headed by Atal Behari Vajpayee was the NC the creation of the BJP ? Those who dub the PDP as BJP's child need to answer this question. It is time when neither any political party nor any contesting candidate can afford to lose confidence. In some cases it is over-confidence especially among those candidates who can,at the most, poll one to two per cent of the total polled votes. Some candidates believe that it is the power of confidence that can send shivers down the spine of their rivals.Since there is no restriction for people keen to contest the Lok Sabha or the Assembly poll most of the constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir may witness multi-cornered contest. This has added to the level of confusion and made difficult for poll pundits to predict the fate of the contesting candidates. Last minute efforts are being made by several political parties for wooing leaders and workers belonging to other parties. And like other parts of the country Jammu and Kashmir state too has been witnessing Aaya Ram Gaya Ram era during the last over one month.Except for Lal Singh, who has not been fielded by the Congress from Udhampur constituency, there has been no revolt in any other party over the distribution of tickets. While the ruling coalition believes that it may be a cakewalk win for its candidates because of various factors including Government's ability to contain the level of militancy related violence, because of its success in holding the Panchayat election and on account of other development works, the opposition believes a bad time for the NC and the Congress candidates because of anti-incumbency factor. |
