If blood is thicker than water,' Land feuds leave real brothers maimed

Rajouri, Mar 22: In a sharp contrast to what they say 'blood is thicker than water' in bizarre incidents reported from Border district Rajouri two brothers were left maimed over property disputes and cases stand registered at Darhal Police Station and Manjakot Police Station respectively.
Source said that Abdul Rashid of village Gharad has a long pending dispute of property with his brother Mohd Sadiq sons of one Karam Din and in a fit of rage the former axed the legs of later on March 5. According to reports from area, the two confronting brothers had a tiff some days ago after exchange of heated words which later took ugly turn and in fit of rage Abdul Rashid assaulted his brother with an axe and hit his brother on his legs.
"With both his legs fractured Sadiq was rushed to District Hospital (DH) Rajouri where he is presently being hospitalized. Meanwhile the matter was also brought in the notice of concerned police at Police Station Darhal which accordingly have registered a case u/s 323/341 RPC.
Meanwhile the family members took the injured Sadiq to office of SSP Rajouri and staged protest alleging that the police yet has not taken any action against the accused despite the case was registered on March 5. The protestors lifted their protest after some senior police officers assured an immediate action in this matter.
In a smilar incident a person allegedly barged into the land of his brother and dismantled his house in village Dehrari under Manjakot police station. As per reports one Mohd Bashir s/o Faqir-ul-lah in his complaint with the Deputy Commissioner Rajouri today said that his brother Wazir Mohd in nexus with some revenue officials included one Shammim Ahmed Patwari is trying to grab his land spreading across 10 kanals. The complainant further has stated that matter is sub-judice and it has stayed the entry of Wazir Mohd and others in the said land on March 19 and in a contempt of court his infuriated brother entered his land on Friday at late evening at 6pm alongwith his sons and some hired goons and dismantled his house where he was living with his daughters.
Deputy Commissioner Rajouri has directed the SP to investigate the matter who further directed SDPO, Manjakot to take necessary action in the matter with a report to his office.
