JAMMU, Apr 27: Development Commissioner Power (DCP) today invited members of Consumer Welfare Association (CWA) for interaction and discussion on the electricity problems being faced by the consumers. The CWA was represented by Vikram Gour, president, BM Kohli, Gen Secy, Chander Parkash Secy, DP Khajuria, AK Kaul, Chander Gulati and PDD team was led by Asgar Ali, Development Commissioner PDD. At the outset the DCP pointed that the purpose of this meeting besides knowing problems is to frankly discuss the difficulties being faced by the PDD in implementing its system improvement programs. To improve service to the electricity users it's essential that a user honestly cooperate with PDD and declares his requirement and does not indulge in theft or misuse of electricity so that the PDD is able to plan and improve the system as per demand. CWA members pointed out that it is essential that PDD goes in for massive awareness campaign among public and educate them 'why/how to save and conserve electric power. Entire Utility staff should periodically hold public awareness programs. Utility should also adopt ways and means to discourage illegal use of energy (with or without connivance of the staff) and complete 100% metering. Members also demanded 'public complaint centre which works round the clock for public convenience. DCP announced that interactive and awareness meeting with public will be held after every six months by DCP himself while the CEs, M&RE will hold such meetings quarterly and Xens monthly. |
