| PDP, NC workers asked to `behave' or face consequences | | Posters seek poll boycott in Srinagar | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Apr 27: Threatening posters have been pasted in the Old City of Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, asking people to stay away from upcoming elections. The poster is in Urdu and has been attributed to Hizbul Mujahideen militant outfit. The poster urges the pro -Indian political workers to stop their activities or face the consequences. The poster was pasted outside a local mosque in Shalla Kadal area this morning. Residents in other parts of Old City said that such posters had also been pasted there which were removed by police early morning. "Time has come when the mujahideen have to launch offensive. Some of our own Kashmir brothers have been misled by Government of India and they are weakening the movement for their gains," read the poster. It further read: "We don't have any other option but to fire on them". The poster has warned National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party workers in particular and asked them to stay away from elections. "We are giving final warning to such elements," the last line of the poster conveys. This is the first measure of its kind that he militants have taken ahead of April 30 polls. Sources in police say that they have also increased night patrol to deal with such issues. |
