| Congress leaders ditched NC, sought votes for PDP: AJKPC | | `Toppling Govt is age old policy of Congress' | | Javaid Naikoo
Srinagar, May 12: The Panchayat Conference has accused Congress leaders including Taj, Parrey and Lone of seeking votes for DP candidate in North Kashmir. The AJKPC was responding to Congress allegations that village heads canvassed for PDP candidate. In a meeting convened here today, members of AJKPC said that none among the village heads had participated in cross voting but whatever happened is the handiwork of Congress leadership. The Congress, the meeting held, is fond of toppling governments and the cross voting is part of this conspiracy. "Why are people like Taj Mohi-ud-din, Muhammad Muzaffar Parry, Shoeb Lone shying away now. These were the persons who urged their workers not to vote for Shariq. They have done it in 1953 and 1984," Said General secretary AJKPC,Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Sofi The meeting held that the Congress sensing defeat across India was trying to gain some support by resorting to overt and covert methods in Jammu Kashmir. The vice president of the Panchayat Conference, Abdul Majeed said that the coalition government has failed to protect the village heads who have been slaughtered across the state. Pertinently both NC and Congress parties in Kashmir are these days busily engaged in accusing each other for not working for the success of alliance candidates in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections in North Kashmir. in the ongoing blame game Congress leaders like Taj Mohi- ud- din claimed that 'NC and congress workers in Uri did not vote for the alliance candidate, Sharief-ud-Din Shariq, while as NC stalwart Shafi Uri lashed out Taj for reacting back alleges that 'Taj-Mohi-ud-din is trying to cover up his failure followed by statement of another congress leader Ghulam Hassan Mir that "It was difficult for him to transfer the votes in favour of NC as during the past decade, his supporters have always stood against the NC and despite working hard, people refused to vote for NC this time too, the claims of congress leadership has given birth to war of words between NC and Congress leadership and sharp reactions from members of AJPC too. |
