| As people vote for change of guard, 'hard' luck in store for coalition candidates in state | | After polls people eagerly waiting for results | | Jehangir Rashid SRINAGAR, May 12: As the nine phases Lok Sabha elections concluded today evening all eyes are focused on the morning of May 16 when the counting of votes would be taken up across the length and breadth of the state. Leaders of all the mainstream parties are keeping their fingers crossed as they want to know what lies in store for them. By the evening of May 16 it would become clear who will form the next Government at centre and who would be the next Prime Minister of India. Odds seem to be in favour of Bharatiya Janta Party's Narendra Modi to be the next PM of the country. At the state level leaders of political parties like Congress, National Conference and People’s Democratic Party too have their task cut for the morning of May 16. Even though there are only six Parliamentary seats in Jammu and Kashmir, but still then people would be very much eager to know the results of these seats. Political analysts believe that the outcome of Lok Sabha results would have a bearing on the Assembly elections being conducted later this year. The analysts say that the results would definitely shape up the pre-poll or post-poll alliance among the three main parties of the state. "The Parliamentary elections would guide the political parties in making preparations for the Assembly elections. The parties would get to know about their weaknesses and strengths and as such guide them for formulating plan of action for the Assembly elections," said political analysts. The political analysts say that the vote share of parties in different constituencies would play a key role vis-a-vis their future more so as the Assembly elections are few months away. Anti-incumbency which is an important factor in any election would aptly prove the performance of NC-Congress coalition Government over the past few five years. "The claims of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah and his Ministers that the state has traversed on the path of progress and development since 2009 would be proved right or wrong as and when the election results are out. The results would guide the ruling coalition as well as opposition as how to improve their performance," said political analysts. The political analysts said that since issues like unemployment and under development hogged the limelight during the campaigning in the state it is quite obvious that people voted keeping these things in mind. They said that this has come up as a big challenge to the state Government with people seemingly feeling the heat. "A huge chunk of voters said that they voted for a change and as such the coalition candidates are set to exit from the scene. Given that situation candidates of PDP and BJP are in driving seat and they are all set to replace candidates of National Conference and Congress in the Parliament. The vote share of coalition parties may have come down since the last Assembly elections and the picture would become clear on May 16," said political analysts. |
