| Farooq's renunciation drama exposed; re-elected president despite public denial | | Its booth capturing in JKCA elections! | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, May 12: Four days after he publically announced that he had played his last innings as the president of the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association and that he shall not be in fray for another term, National Conference patriarch Farooq Abdullah did not only contest for another illegal term as president but also rigged the polls to ensure his unopposed election to the JKCA headship. Farooq's unopposed re-election has stirred a storm within the JKCA as many members of the opponent camp were not even allowed to enter the venue of elections. Accusing Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association working committee of committing fraud and manipulation, the incumbent members of JKCA today said that these elections were manipulated and were not fair. "During last elections in 2011, I was elected as the Vice Chairman and after three years when elections were due on Monday 2014, I was not allowed to participate in it. I am telling you with authority that there were dozens of fake members present in the meeting who participated in the elections," Shambu Nath Sharma who heads Shastri Cricket Club Jammu and was the vice chairman of the JKCA till Monday told. He said that how come it is possible that you don't allow a working committee member to participate in the JKCA elections. "I was shocked after not finding my name in the list of the members that were due to participate in the working committee meeting today. You will not believe that as the Vice Chairman of the JKCA, I participated in the Working Committee meeting at Fortune Rivera Hotel Jammu on March 4 this year that was presided by Dr Farooq Abdullah. It shocked me that those persons were entrusted the job to frame the list of members who are corrupt and are looting the money of the Association," Sharma alleged. The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader and former bureaucrat, Mehboob Iqbal and few more people, who are political opponents of Abdullah were shown the door and were not included in any of the committee. Some of them were not even allowed to enter SKICC where the elections were being held. Life time member of JKCA who represents Muslim Cricket Club Sopore Javid Ahmed Kitab despite being the present vice chairman of the Association was also not allowed to participate in the Working Committee meeting on Monday. "Farooq Abdullah barred those members to participate in the elections who frequently raise the questions about the cricket scam. Farooq Abdullah did it all to hush up the scam and save the guilty," Kitab told adding that he never compromised with any one on the scam that marred Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association. |
