Early Times Report Jammu, May 12: Various Hospitals of city including GMCH, SMGS, GH Sarwal, GH Gandhi Nagar and other government and private hospitals today organized programmes to mark World Nurses Day that falls on May 12 every year. In a function organized in auditorium of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Jammu about 20 nurses were awarded for their mankind services to the patients. Speaking on the occasion Officiating Principal, GMCH Dr Sunanda said, "Nurses are the backbone of hospitals, so the hospitals are known as nursing home. While treating patients, doctors make the road map of treatment and major execution of the care-plan is done by the nurses." "The job of nurses involves immense compassionate approach towards patients. For nurses, hospital is as good as home and patients are their family. Nurses need to be much focused at work. Every patient is different. Every situation is different and accordingly many a time nurses have to mould themselves so as to deliver effective nursing care", said Dr Ravnider Rattan Pal, Medical Superintendent, GMC. "In the country, there is dearth of nurses. This is due to lack of awareness in community to take nursing as a professional career", he said. During the function of other senior doctors, faculty members and members of paramedical staff were present. Similar functions were also held at SGMS Hospital, GH Sarwal and GH Gandhi Nagar where services of nursing staff were appreciated. |
