Dogri Sanstha organizes 'Geet Sandhya' to showcase 'Keser's poetry'

Jammu, May 12: Dogri Sanstha organized a 'Geet Sandhya' in which poetry of Inderjeet Kesar was presented to audience through musical compositions rendered by well known composer and singer Sham Sajan.
Eminent literary luminary Prof Satyapal Srivats presided over the programme while Anjali Sharma, ASD, Doordarshan was the Chief Guest on this occasion. Besides eminent vocalist Sham Sajan among others who rendered their voice to the lyrics of Inderjeet Kesar, included Manju Bala, Gursharan Kour, Sargam Pant, Shyam Manfaal, Rakesh Dogra, Karan Singh and Bhanu Choudhary. They were aptly and superbly accompanied by Sanjay Pashi and Karan Malhotra on Guitar and Tabla respectively.
The audience included galaxy of all well known names in the field of literature, music and culture and other prominent citizens who had turned up in large numbers.Speaking on the occasion, Prof Srivats in his presidential address praised the artistic talent of the singers and had words of appreciation for directly appealing poetry of Kesar. "It is the matter of great satisfaction that good Dogri poetry is being presented to public through musical renderings on a regular basis due to the efforts of Dogri Sanstha, he said and hoped, "this will go a long way in popularizing poetry among masses." Chief guest Anjali Sharma in her address said Jammu has in reality become a hub of cultural activities and a major credit for that goes to Dogri Sanstha. She appreciated the initiative for the quality of singing, musical compositions and presentation. She said Doordarshan will strive hard to promote the talent of this region. Earlier at the onset of occasion Inderjeet Kesar also recited a few of his geets on this occasion. In his address Prof Lalit Magotra, president of Dogri Sanstha, expressed his happiness at the enthusiastic response of the pubic to the monthly musical programmes based on the works of Dogri poets.
He said also appreciated hard work and dedication of Sham Sajan who is devoted to music and has immense love for Dogri language. The programme was conducted by Raj Kumar Behrupia while Prof Veena Gupta, General Secretary of Dogri Sanstha presented vote of thanks.
