Srinagar, May 12 : The Karvan-e-Aman bus, operating between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad, capital of Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) was stopped due to landslides, triggered by heavy rains. Official sources said here this afternoon that bus, carrying those travelling to PoK, was stopped at Bandi Lagama, after landslide and shooting stones at Bhatar Meel. There was rain since last night, triggering the landslides and shooting stones today. We have stopped the bus and as soon as the landslides are cleared the bus will proceed towards Kaman post, the last Indian military post on this side of the Line of Control (LoC). The bus coming from PoK has reached Kaman post, they said adding details about those travelling in it were awaited. The bus service was introduced on April 7, 2005 to allow families divided in 1947 to meet each other after India and Pakistan agreed to allow travel on ' Travel Permits' instead of International passport. The service has helped thousands of divided families to meet each other. However, only divided families are allowed to travel in the bus. |
