PDP leader Shahzad demands re-opening of Mughal road
5/12/2014 11:33:20 PM
Early Times Report

RAJOURI, May 12 : Lambasting the present coalition government for its failure to address the issue of reopening of the Mughal road, Senior PDP leader Shahzad Khan said that the historical road is still not opened for vehicular traffic despite the fact that the month of May is going on.
In a press statement issued here today, Shahzad said that it is unfortunate that the Zojila Pass which is at an equal altitude yet has more snow cover has been opened for public transportation but the government is least bothered about this part of the state. The Pir Panjal region has always been neglected and given a step motherly treatment by the present government.
Coming strongly on the apathetic attitude of the government, he said that it has failed to complete it in the stipulated time period despite spending hundreds of crores of rupees.
He said that the government announced the inauguration dates a number of times but for the reasons best known to it the dates were cancelled.
The double lane road has been completed in 2012 but has not yet commissioned. The people are continuously plying on the Mughal Road
Besides, Shahzad said that there is neither police patrolling on the road nor is there any arrangement for warning the people in case of bad weather and subsequent sliding and flooding.
He further said that there is no arrangement of any trauma hospital or trauma vans in case of road accidents.
He further said that the Mughal Sarais lining the Mughal road are in dilapidated state but nothing is being done to preserve them.
