Denial of treatment to rape victim

RAJOURI, June 7: Pending magisterial probe in the alleged denial of treatment to a 12 years old rape victim at two hospitals at Rajouri, CMO Rajouri today attached two consultant Gynaecologists with Directorate office at Jammu.
Meanwhile Block Medical Officer, (BMO) Nowshera has also attached three employees of Sub-District hospital, Nowshera pending outcome of magisterial probe. Dr Naresh Khajuria and Dr Suresh Kapai both Gynaecologists at Nowshera and district hospital have been relieved by the concerned officials to join their duties with directorate office.
Three employees of SDH, Nowshera who were also attached have been identified as Mohinder Singh, storekeeper, Vijay Kumar supervisor pharmacist and Sanjeev Kumar ambulance driver. It has been alleged that a 12 years rape victim was denied treatment in the government hospitals at Nowshera, Rajouri and at Jammu for three days despite the facts that besides every facility consultant gynaecologists were also present in these hospitals and even then the innocent rape victim was denied treatment for three days and was left on the mercy of God.
On May 31; one Sanjeev Kumar of Village Dhanaka in Nowshera Tehsil allegedly committed the rape with the girl and after the crime left her unconscious. Some passerby saw the girl and informed the police and accordingly she was admitted at SDH, hospital at Nowshera. But the doctors referred her to district hospital where she on June, 1 also get the same treatment and the hospital administration asked the parents to take the girl to SMGS Hospital.
On June 1, the victim was brought o SMGS hospital and at about 4 pm doctors referred her to a government hospital at Sarwal where she was treated under MRD No 1370. On the information of Sarwal hospital superintendent Director Health services took serious not of the referrals by the three government hospitals and directed Chief Medical Officer to investigate the matter.
Meanwhile also reacting to the incident Hemat Kumar Sharma, Deputy Commissioner also directed Health authorities to take serous note of negligence on parts of the doctors at two hospitals and directed SDM Nowshera to initiate magisterial probe.
Deepati Uppal , SDM directed Tehsildar Nowshera to investigate the matter and will be helped by Dr. Govind Sharma, BMO, Sunderbani and Dr. S.Raina consultant gynaecologist, Sunderbani hospital. "Team is on the job and investigating the matter. The report is expected within next few days. Meanwhile three employees of SDH, Nowshera were also attached pending outcome of the magisterial probe, said SDM.
