| 4 Cops, 2 civilians injured in Shopian attack | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, June 7: At least six persons, including two civilians were injured today after a police party was attacked by suspected militants in South Kashmir's Shopian district. According to reports at around 2.30 pm, one police team of District Police Lines Shopian was on a routine check to Bongam Chowk of main town Shopian when suspected militants opened fire at them resulting in injuries to four police personnel and two civilians. Police spokesperson said that unknown gunmen fired upon a police party in Shopian this afternoon, near Hospital, in the jurisdiction of Police station Shopian in which six persons including four policemen were injured and three policemen received bullet injuries in legs have been shifted to Bone and Joint hospital and one Policeman received bullet injury on abdomen has been shifted to SMHS hospital Srinagar and two civilians who were injured have been shifted to Bone and Joint hospital Srinagar. The details reveal that among the injured include four policemen, Mehraj-ud-din belt no 455, one critically injured Shabir Ahmad Driver SPO/54, Vikas and Zahoor ahmad, besides two civilians namely Bashir Ahmad of Katrusu Kulgam district and Mohammad Amin Zargar of Bongam Shopian. Police sources said that a massive manhunt was launched in the area to nab the attackers behind the attack. |
