Jammu, June 7: The top BJP leaders including its state president, Jugal Kishore Sharma, former presidents Dr Nirmal Singh and Shamsher Singh Manhas were conspicuous by their absence during the reception in honour of Union MoS in PM's Office, Dr Jitendra Singh during his maiden visit to City of Temples after taking over as Union Minister at New Delhi on May 26.
No senior BJP leaders except its Legislative Party leader, Ashok Khajuria and Party organisational general secretary, Ashok Kaul others skipped the reception in honour of Dr Singh at Party office this morning. This reveals the groupism and internal rivalry in Party has come to fore and there was no change in bringing a truce in faction riddled BJP in J&K even after Narendra Modi took over as PM.
Party sources said that internal rivalry was not in the larger interests of the people in the State and will affect its poll prospectus in the coming Assembly poll slated to be held much earlier than schedule. Sources said that the State Unit showed so disinterest in honouring the reception for the Minister that the entire function was organised in a hotchpotch manner as no proper arrangement was made for receiving the VIP whose elevation to MoS in PM's office was a moment of pride and celebration not only for Jammu region but for the entire State, sources added.
Sources said the arrangement of receiving the dignitary was made in a small room despite on such occasions the party lawn is used to host such functions. But much to the embarrassing position of visiting dignitary and even the media men the function was held in a small room where everyone felt suffocated due to intense heat. Sources said soon after coming to know about the visit of Dr Singh a senior leader has reportedly asked the Party activists to keep the function as low key affair and this is the reason that no senior Partymen visited the Jammu Airport to receive the Union Minister and what to speak of according a tumultuous welcome to him.
The entire function was organised in a hotchpotch manner and no separate interaction with media men was organized, sources said. Sources said the Party president instead of being part of function chose to visit Poonch to attend a workers meeting there. |
